The pagan altar

The find of the week was, without any doubt, the discovery of the various architectural elements of the early Byzantine church on Alexander's Hill, including fragments of the building's door and ambon (a raised stand from which part of the liturgy would have been read), but also that of the altar dedicated to the goddess to which a pagan sanctuary preceding the Christian church had been devoted.
